Erik & Heather's RTW Trip

About Us

Erik Fantasia

I’ve been dreaming of taking a round-the-world trip for nearly 10 years, after first getting bitten by the travel bug while spending a semester abroad in London.  This was followed shortly after by a 2-week trip on the Trans-Siberian railroad across Russia, another semester abroad (this time in Denmark), and, finally, taking a job back in London after graduating college.  I returned to the US and settled in NYC a little more than 3 years ago, met Heather, and am thrilled that my dream is now our dream.

Heather Curtis

I’m an early 30’s gal who was raised in upstate New York, went to college for music in NY & Boston, and moved to New York City in 2003. After getting a bit hardened by city-life through working and living in The Big Apple for 7 years, I’m ready to see the world! Putting my fear of flying (& of bugs, scorpions, snakes, etc.) aside, this singer is ready to take the leap and travel the globe! And hopes to do a bit of singing along the way…

Our Story

March 1, 2007. My girlfriends convinced me to go speed-dating in New York City. I was the most hesitant of the bunch & didn’t feel mentally prepared for such a strange social event. But, I was ready not to be single anymore, I jumped in & met Erik, the Man I Love! We’ve been together ever since! Taking a chance worked for me before– so taking the adventure of a lifetime with the Man of my Dreams is the next logical step!

    Dear Erik and Heather,
I have been enjoying going through your blog. You have wonderful article and pictures. I have just started my site, The Runaway Guide. I was wondering if you would like to exchange links with me. Have a look here, http://www.runawayguide.com
Also, if you have any advice for me or can think of any further opportunities we can cross promote each other, I would greatly appreciate it. I have always had a passion for travel and I recently realized my passion for writing. Travel bloging merges these two beautifully and I hope to make this my profession.
    Thank you in advance,
    Safe travels,
    Leif

Hi Erik and Heather- I am in the process of putting together a trip log with my pictures from our Plancius cruise Dec 10-20, 2010, and came across your proposal pictures. Awesome! Cuverville island must have some romantic thing going on, because we got MARRIED there on our cruise Dec. 14. Troels Jacobsen married us, with Captain Pruss attending, plus the entire contingent of passengers, many of the crew and (as you can imagine) a lot of penguins. If you’d like to see the amazing photos of our marriage, there are albums in my photos on Facebook. You will laugh- I think we got married practically on the same spot you got engaged, only there was a lot more snow still on the ground in December. Hope to hear from you, Andy and Tara

    Hello you guys!,

I’m a big fan! I thought you would be interested in this video. Really different.

The guy hitchhiked across the USA and then made this sweet stop motion video.

    Hi,
I am wondering if you can tell me if it is the governement or a foreign corporation that runs the mining at Ijen in Java? I want to work to get these men gas masks, some more protection from these fumes. That they give their lives to support their families, and someone is getting rich on the 30 years taken from their lives is so upsetting to me. With all of the profits from sulfur, they should be GIVEN gas masks. Is there any way at all you might be able to help me with this or get me in contact with someone who could?

Thank you so much for your time.
    Allison
